Julie Lesage is DRAGON CLUB new operation manager. As we couldn't miss the chance to know more about this new face of Shanghai nightlife, we sat up a meeting with Julie who we met in the old lane house that has been hosting the sulfurous little after party club for the past 5 years.
KFM:
What about Julie?
Julie:
She's a 24 years-old french girl and new operation manager at DRAGON CLUB, she's a party-goer and a music lover. She traveled a lot before she decides to settle down in Shanghai few months ago.
KFM:
Any big plan for DRAGON CLUB?
Julie:
I will try my best to refresh DRAGON's image and to bring a more feminine touch. From September you will already see a difference from our schedule: exclusive themes, guest DJs, a Wednesday theme also as I believe there's still a market for weekdays... There's a lot I can do for DRAGON and a lot that DRAGON can do for the Shanghai clubbing community.
KFM:
Music type?
Julie:
I love Electro and Indie Rock music especially Radiohead, CSS, LCD Soundsystem, Yoav, Nine Inch nails, New Young Pony Club, Frustration... I also dig live music. Latest shows I've been to were Massive Attack and Iggy Pop and the Stooges! On the electro side: Prodigy, Justice, The Chemical Brothers, Laurent Garnier, Yuksek, Agoria, Digitalism, etc...
KFM:
Does it mean you will bring some of this sound with you to DRAGON?
Julie:
Correct. I believe there's not much of an alternative scene in Shanghai and it's a pity. With "Julie's Parties", starting from September, we will propose some more eclectic plays, from alternative to pop-rock and good hip-hop.
